Welcome to Openhack Stockholm 2020

Are you a creative problem solver? An eager mind, ready to take on some tough challenges of our time? Set us closer to reaching the UN SDGs with you & your team's unique input?

If the answer to these questions is "YES" then we can't wait to welcome you as a hacker!

We are proud to be hosting this year’s annual Stockholm hackathon with a twist - we are going DIGITAL. For 48 hours, hackers will take part in a 100% virtual hackathon, going from idea to working prototype of a solution.  For those of you Stockholm-based we give the possibility to drop by at Norrsken House to pick up a goodie bag (conditions apply).

For whom?

We are looking for YOU - specific challenge subject-matter experts, product designers, project managers, business developers, data specialists, UX/UI gurus, marketing brains, programming witches and wizards, and more! What matters is your will to push us forward with your input in building real solutions to the challenges presented.

What challenges?

This year we partnered with 4 case providers to provide you with daring challenges :

1. Powering the transition to sustainable mobility in cities
2. Preventing avoidable deaths by reducing stillbirths
3. Challenging decision makers towards peace-building
4. Providing vulnerable children with access to education

HOW IT WORKS

This hackathon is based on building solutions to the challenges provided by our Case Contributors. The format of the event is "from idea to working prototype" of a solution that you and your team develop.

The event lasts for 48hrs (6-8 Nov) with the following phases preceding it:

  1. Individual registration:  Oct 23rd - Nov 6th at 14.00
As a participant, you register individually on this website. You will get a confirmation e-mail directing you further.
  2. Ideation & team matchmaking: Oct 23rd - Nov 6th at 18.00
Get acquainted with the case challenges and get your ideas flowing! On Discord, the event's communications platform, you will be able to brainstorm and discuss ideas with fellow participants, join a team or start building one!
  3. Idea submission: Oct 30th - Nov 6th at 18.00
You can submit your idea, add your teammates, find new ones or join another idea. Only ideas with a team will be accepted to the hackathon. NB: a team should be composed of a minimum of 2 people but we recommend 4 -8 people (no objections to more!).
  4. Hacking: Nov 6th, 18.00 - Nov 8th, 16.00
And we're hacking! Head over to Schedule to see the full outline of the event.
